Capacity Of Movement

The ensemble “Capacity of Movement” consists of eight musicians who reflect on the possibilities of movement in dense and structured space. In doing so, they not only portray mechanisms of acceleration and deceleration, which are becoming increasingly important in the modern world, but also create a productive approach to these mechanisms of movement.  We view movement not only as a rhythmic concept, but also as a concept of freedom. Within the ensemble, questions about the equality of individual voices and their possibilities for movement are raised and renegotiated.

Furthermore, we see process as fundamental to our artistic practice. The work on stage is not phased but always synchronized with the process. We criticize the marketing concept of wanting to sell a “finished” product. We want to sell our work, our process.

An acoustic feedback loop is often undesirable, even almost painful. But when you consider that the act of improvising together relies precisely on this kind of recursion, the term takes on an entirely new meaning.

To explore the possibilities within this dynamic, Leipzig-based saxophonist, composer, and producer Arthur Kohlhaas founded a flexible collective of artists – the Feedback Loop. In this loop, different fields of art converge and inspire one another. The focus is clearly on interdisciplinarity and collaboration.
